I am a physician in private practice, and long time resident of Boulder, Colorado. I graduated with a Doctorate in Medicine (M.D.) from Boston University School of Medicine, and then returned to Colorado and completed an internship in Family Medicine at University of Colorado Hospital.
I completed additional education in integrative and alternative medicine, including functional medicine, holistic nutrition, mind-body medicine, integrative mental health, counseling and psychotherapy. My practice interests include the application of integrative medical psychology (health therapy), particularly focused on the role of trauma (and PTSD) in a variety of health conditions, including addiction, chronic pain and chronic illness. I am a PESI-certified Clinical Trauma Treatment Professional (CCTP).
As part of pursuing my interest in addiction treatment, I became certified in Buprenorphine and Office-Based Treatment of Opioid Dependence through the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). Medication assisted treatment (MAT) services, for opioid and alcohol dependence, continue to be offered in my practice.
Since 2011, I have specialized in medical cannabis, its clinical applications, and public health implications. I offer consulting services for medical cannabis treatment and marijuana use assessment. As marijuana continues to emerge as a topic of importance, I have worked with a range of stakeholders to support its healthy integration in our communities through public service. Currently, I serve as an appointed member of the State of Colorado Board of Health, as well as the City of Boulder Cannabis Licensing Advisory Board (CLAB). I have also served on the Scientific Advisory Council for the Medical Marijuana Research Program at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). My interest in the field has led me to work with various cannabis industry organizations and businesses, as a medical consultant and expert.
With the passage of the Natural Medicine Health Act in Colorado, psychedelic medicine and therapy are emerging as promising alternative treatment options. I am currently completing training and certification (expected October 2025) as a Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy Provider through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute Training Program. Ketamine-Assisted Therapy services are anticipated to begin in Fall 2025. Psilocybin Therapy services are anticipated to begin in late 2025, pending licensing through the Colorado Natural Medicine Program.
When I’m not working, I can be found spending time with my family. Colorado offers endless outdoor opportunities, and I do my best to explore all this amazing state has to offer! I am an avid lover of the mountains, and divide my free time between fly-fishing, snowboarding and hiking.
