A Whole-Person Approach to Medicine and Healing
Like many of my patients, I wanted to find a doctor who practiced medicine with time, curiosity, and respect for the whole person – someone who understood health in the context of a life story. I’ve always believed that true healing happens when we recognize the deep connection between mind and body, the effects of stress and trauma on health, and the power of the mind in healing.
Integrative Medicine Grounded in Compassion and Connection
During my medical training, I was inspired by what modern medicine can do, yet I also saw its limits. Too often, physicians are rushed and constrained by a system focused on symptoms and short-term fixes rather than lasting wellness. As an integrative medicine physician, my practice is built around personalized care plans that combine medical knowledge with holistic, whole-person care, mind-body medicine, functional medicine, holistic nutrition, lifestyle guidance, therapy, and counseling. My goal is to treat the whole person, body, mind, and spirit, while addressing the root causes of illness and supporting meaningful, lasting change.

Medical Education & Licensure
My path in medicine has been shaped by curiosity, a passion for learning, and a deep respect for the mind-body connection.
I began in Boulder, Colorado, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a Certificate in Neuroscience from the University of Colorado (CU Boulder). I received my Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Boston University School of Medicine, where I was awarded the Malamud Prize for work in psychiatry during medical school. I completed an internship in Family Medicine at the University of Colorado Hospital and am a licensed General Practice physician in the state of Colorado.
Expanding the Scope of Care Through Integrative Medicine and Therapy
Integrative Therapy & Holistic Care
Experience in primary care underscored how profoundly stress, lifestyle, and emotional health shape overall well-being. To deepen my therapeutic work, I engaged in further study of counseling-informed approaches, integrating elements of mind–body medicine, mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and trauma-informed care.
My clinical focus bridges integrative medicine and therapy, supporting healing for trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, chronic pain, and the effects of long-term stress or illness. I hold certification through PESI as both a Clinical Trauma Treatment Professional (CCTP) and an Addictions-Informed Mental Health Professional (CAIMHP), along with additional certification in Buprenorphine and Office-Based Treatment of Opioid Dependence through the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).
Within an integrative framework, I offer physician-guided medication management and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid and alcohol use disorders – always emphasizing compassion, safety, and whole-person healing.
Medical Cannabis Expertise
My work as an integrative medicine physician naturally expanded to include the study and application of medical cannabis, an area where clinical care, public health, and evolving policy meet.
I have specialized in medical cannabis since 2011, working with patients, clinicians, and public-health partners to advance safe, thoughtful, and evidence-informed practices. Over the years, I have provided consultation, education, and guidance for both individuals and organizations seeking to understand cannabis as part of an integrative approach to health and wellness.
In addition to clinical work, I have served in professional and advisory roles focused on shaping the responsible integration of cannabis medicine in Colorado and beyond—including past appointments to the State of Colorado Board of Health, the City of Boulder Cannabis Licensing Advisory Board (CLAB), and the Scientific Advisory Council for the Medical Marijuana Research Program at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).
I also work with individuals navigating cannabis use disorder, offering physician-supported treatment and education to promote balanced, mindful, and sustainable relationships with these medicines.
I value the opportunity to help guide the responsible use, research, and implementation of emerging medicines in Colorado, across the United States, and globally – and have been actively involved in professional service and advocacy to support this important evolution in the field.
Psychedelic Medicine
An interest in emerging therapies and the future of integrative mental health naturally led me to psychedelic medicine, including psychedelic-assisted therapy with substances such as psilocybin, and to a lesser extent ketamine. My clinical role in this work centers on education, medical screening, preparation, and integration support.
I completed training and education as a Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy Provider through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute (IPI), including practicum training in ketamine-assisted therapy and psilocybin-assisted therapy, and hold an NMIT license under the Colorado Natural Medicine program. I am also the owner and a clinical facilitator with Emergence Psychedelic Therapy, LLC, a Colorado-licensed healing center operating within the state’s regulated Natural Medicine framework. In my professional roles, I aim to bridge the worlds of medical care, psychology, and consciousness-based healing – supporting safe, ethical, and heart-centered access to these transformative therapies.
The Heart of My Work
What I find most rewarding about this work is helping people reconnect with their own capacity for health. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and guided by curiosity – integrating medical knowledge, mindfulness, counseling, and holistic care to support genuine healing. When I’m not seeing patients, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring the outdoors, and appreciating the beauty of life in Colorado.
